Mr. Ha Van Doan, Director of Cu Village Agricultural Service Cooperative, Chieng Ban Commune, said: The cooperative was established in 2023, has 52 members with 71 hectares of coffee planted since 2000, with an output of about 1,200 tons/year. The cooperative cooperates with Phuc Sinh Son La Joint Stock Company to renovate and replant coffee trees suitable for the climate, aiming at organic production, applying high technology, improving product quality and design, meeting export standards.
In Chieng Chung commune, there are 675 hectares of coffee, of which more than 300 hectares are granted growing area codes. A typical example is Ara - Tay Coffee Cooperative with 200 hectares of coffee, of which 70 hectares are being harvested, with an output of nearly 1,400 tons/year. Ms. Cam Thi Mon, Director of the Cooperative, said: Cooperative members adhere to sustainable production processes, using drip irrigation systems, organic fertilizers, no pesticides and toxic chemicals, ensuring food safety. The cooperative's coffee products are recognized as typical agricultural products and meet 4-star OCOP standards from 2022.
As the largest high-quality Arabica coffee growing area in the country, our province has promoted attracting investment in production and deep processing of coffee beans to serve the market and export. Typically, Son La Coffee Processing Joint Stock Company has invested in a factory of nearly 4.1 hectares, with a capacity to process 50,000 tons of fresh coffee beans/year. The factory is equipped with a modern processing line, including: a water-saving wet milling system with a circulating mechanism and a closed dry milling line, which does not generate dust. The entire production process is designed in a circular, environmentally friendly direction, meeting green and sustainable agricultural standards according to international standards. Products include: roasted and ground coffee, instant coffee, filter bag coffee and specialty coffee lines exported to European, North American and Japanese markets.

Mr. Nguyen Nhu Hung, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Son La Coffee Processing Joint Stock Company, said: The company has cooperated with 684 households to develop 368 hectares of high-tech coffee in 8 villages of Chieng Chung and Chieng Ban communes, recognized by the Provincial People's Committee. The company has implemented coffee production according to the European Union's deforestation regulations (EUDR); identified growing areas and participating households to expand the sustainable coffee certification chain according to RSP standards, in coordination with Louis Dreyfus Company Vietnam Trading and Processing Company Limited, in 8 communes of Mai Son district and some communes of Yen Chau district, with a total area of nearly 3,000 hectares. In 2024, the company will sell over 3,000 tons of coffee beans to Louis Dreyfus Company Vietnam. Investing in modern processing technology and expanding the area of coffee produced according to organic and sustainable standards (4C, RA, EUDR...) has helped improve product quality and expand export markets.
Phuc Sinh Son La Joint Stock Company is also a pioneer in applying modern technology in processing Arabica coffee. Mr. Vu Viet Thang, General Director of the Company, said: For sustainable development, we closely cooperate with farmers, support cultivation techniques, harvest, and process according to the correct process and commit to purchasing at reasonable prices, helping farmers increase their income. At the same time, ensure a stable source of raw materials for processing. The Company's products are all branded Blue Son La, with a distinctive flavor that is increasingly popular at home and abroad, bringing in tens of millions of USD/year in revenue.
The whole province currently has over 19,100 hectares of coffee certified with sustainable certifications RA, 4C, VietGAP and equivalent; There are over 1,120 hectares of specialty coffee; there are 2 coffee production areas in Mai Son district with a scale of 1,000 hectares of coffee of 1,560 households. There are 7 companies, enterprises, and cooperatives that are granted the right to use the geographical indication "Son La Coffee", exporting to 20 countries and territories, with an export value of nearly 100 million USD, creating jobs and stable income for over 18,000 coffee growing households.
